Vicente Torres has designed a tour that will bring you to downtown Mexico City in a way that combines cultural exploration and culinary delight.
Downtown Mexico City, or Centro Histórico, is the vibrant heart of the capital, rich in history and culture. It is home to numerous historical landmarks, including the Zócalo (main square), the Metropolitan Cathedral, Templo Mayor, San Ildefonso, and the National Palace. The area is characterized by its colonial architecture, bustling markets, and a mix of modern and traditional shops, restaurants, and museums. The streets are lively with street vendors, performers, and a vibrant mix of locals and tourists, making it an integral part of the city’s identity.
Our journey begins with visits to two of the typical local taquerias known for their authentic flavors. Our goal is to sample the best tacos each has to offer, exploring a variety of meats and taco styles along the way. As we stroll through Zocalo, you’ll dive into the rich history of Mexico City, visiting landmarks, such as the Presidential Palace, Templo Mayor, and San Ildefonso Arts College.
We’ll navigate the neighborhood, passing colonial buildings and historic restaurants, while also discovering new trends in Mexican cuisine. No tour would be complete without tasting a couple of mezcals, and we’ll cap it off with one of the region’s most renowned sweets, featuring homemade cream sourced from local farms.
