Buenos Dias, this first day will consist of a sketching session with our instructor at a stunning location in Teotihuacan. You’ll have the chance to draw inspiration from your surroundings and pour it into your art, while learning about the impressive history of the area. You will additionally be visiting Tetitlan, the pre-Columbian paintings. Additionally, you will get the chance to walk around Capilla Riveriana, where some of Mexican artist Diego Rivera’s work is shown through murals in a chapel, adding to the network of artistry behind the history of Mexico. Lastly, you will visit the Museo Nacional de Antropología, the largest museum in Mexico, which showcases the extensive archeological and ethnographic collections that represent the country.

You will start the day off with a visit to the beautiful Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral, the first cathedral to have been built in the Americas. The activities following will include a visit to a food market in the city, so that you can get an authentic taste of Mexican taste and cuisine, as well as walking through

the Palacio de Bellas Artes, a cultural center known for its architecture and famous murals by artists such as Diego Rivera and Jose Clemente Orozco. You’ll get the chance to see more of Rivera’s murals in the Secretaría de Educación Publica, where aspects of Mexican life are portrayed. You will end the day of activities with an art session at Escuela San Ildefonso. Other than having unique architecture, this current museum and cultural center used to be a prestigious boarding school that now has artistic and archeological exhibitions, including murals by well known Mexican artists and is known as the place where Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera met for the first time.

This day will be quite colorful! It will consist of going over to Xochimilco, the canal system built by the Aztecs, where you will get to hop on a Trajinera and float around this network of other vibrant boats that have unique purposes like bars, food, and playing mariachi music. For the rest of the day, you will get to visit the Museo Anahuacalli and Casa Azul. Anahuacalli was designed by Rivera and is home to a vast collection of pre-Hispanic pieces based on artwork and ecological reserve. La Casa Azul will be the last stop, famously known as the Frida Kahlo museum, which was home to Frida and Diego during their marriage, and now showcases a vast collection of items from their personal lives, as well as paintings.

Bye Mexico City! The day will consist of an exploration of Mexico City and the areas around it through a private coach. Mexico City is extremely rich in culture and is home to a variety of activities to engulf you into the history and ancestry within Mexico. You will be taking the coach over to Tonantzintla, a church with an indigenous Baroque style exterior, located in Puebla. This church has been standing since the 16th century and is known for all its pre-Hispanic elements. You will additionally be visiting Puebla and then staying in Oaxaca. Puebla is known for its culinary history and colonial pottery & architecture, whereas Oaxaca is famous for its historic roots with indigenous tribes and remaining ruins & culture.

In Oaxaca, you will engage in a sketching session at the Monte Alban archeological site
