Mexico City and Oaxaca

6 Days – Starting on a Sunday

Join us in embarking on an unforgettable exploration of Mexico’s diverse heritage and vibrant culture. Begin your adventure in bustling Mexico City, where you’ll marvel at historic landmarks such as the Zócalo and Palacio Nacional. Journey back in time as you explore the ancient ruins of Teotihuacán, discovering the mysteries of the Pyramid of the Sun and the Avenue of the Dead. Then, venture to the charming colonial towns of Puebla and Oaxaca, where you’ll wander cobblestone streets lined with colorful buildings and explore impressive archaeological sites like Monte Albán and the Árbol del Tule. Immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Mexican traditions, from vibrant festivals to delicious cuisine, and create memories to last a lifetime.

Day 1 (SUN) MEXICO CITY

Welcome to Mexico City! We’ll provide assistance and transfer to the hotel, and then you’ll have a day at your leisure. Goodnight!

Day 2 (MON) MEXICO CITY

After breakfast, we’ll have a panoramic visit of the city starting with the Centro Histórico, Zócalo, Catedral, Palacio Nacional with Diego Rivera’s murals and followed by a journey through Paseo de la Reforma and Parque Chapultepec. We will then make a stop at the Museo Nacional de Antropología, and we suggest an excursion through the canals of Xochimilco for the rest of the day.

Day 3 (TUE) TEOTIHUACAN – BASILICA DE GUADALUPE

Following breakfast, we will make our way to the Plaza de las Tres Culturas, located in Barrio de Tlatelolco, where the confluence of the three historical periods experienced by the country are showcased: pre-Hispanic, colonial, and modern. We’ll continue to the Basílica de Guadalupe, the second most visited Catholic sanctuary in the world.

Next, we will journey into Teotihuacán, “where men turn into gods”. We will visit the temple of Quetzalcóatl, the Avenue of the Dead, the Pyramid of the Sun, the Pyramid of the Moon, and the Temple of the Quetzal-Papalotl. After lunch, we will make our way back to Mexico City! 

Day 4 (WED) MEXICO – PUEBLA – OAXACA 

Bienvenidos! Departure to Puebla, also known as the “City of Angels”. We’ll be visiting Santa Maria Tonantzintla, a temple gorgeously decorated by indigenous hands. On our arrival to Puebla, we will be stopping by Rosario’s Chapel, the Cathedral, the Main Square and the Historical Downtown. We will also have lunch on the way to Oaxaca. Arrival to Oaxaca and goodnight! 

Day 5 (THU) OAXACA – MONTE ALBAN – TULE 

Buenos Dias! After breakfast, we’ll pay a visit to Monte Alban, a great archeological site built on a mountain top flattened by the Zapotecs where we’ll find different culture manifestations such as Olmecs, Mixtecs and Zapotecs. We’ll walk around the Main Square, the Observatory, Tomb # 7, and the Stones of the Dancers. On our way back, we are going to find the Tule Tree, perhaps one of the biggest living beings in the world. We’ll eventually return to Oaxaca and visit the beautiful city, including the Cathedral, the magnificent Santo Domingo church, and the museum.

Day 6 (FRI) OAXACA – MITLA – TEHUANTEPEC

On our way to Chiapas, we will continue on to Mitla, one of the most enigmatic sacred places. The village had a great importance as a burial site and the buildings are decorated with symbolic mosaics. Customers will be dropped at the airport or at Oaxaca downtown (by request).
